E-bike battery care and storage guide
Battery instructions are model-specific. Treat the bike, battery, and charger manuals as the authority; this page is a checklist for finding and following those instructions, not a replacement for them.
Before charging
Use only a charger approved for the battery system. Inspect the case, connector, cable, and plug for impact, heat, swelling, moisture, or exposed conductors. Do not charge a damaged battery; isolate it from combustible materials only when safe and contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
Charging location
Charge in a dry, ventilated place on a stable surface, away from exits and combustible clutter. Follow the manual's temperature range and supervision guidance. Avoid improvised adapters, extension arrangements, or third-party repair advice that conflicts with the manufacturer.
Storage and seasonal downtime
Use the specified storage temperature and state-of-charge range. Recheck the battery at the interval in the manual because systems self-discharge. Protect contacts, avoid crushing loads, and follow building, workplace, transport, and local fire-safety rules.
When to escalate
Unexpected heat, odor, smoke, hissing, deformation, water ingress, or crash damage requires immediate caution. Move away, call emergency services when there is active danger, and do not reuse or dispose of the battery through household waste.
